Power of Working Together

Adriana Leal giving a presentationOn October 5, Adriana Leal, Director of the Military and Veteran Center at UIW and Jessica Parra, Director of Student Services for the School of Professional Studies presented at the 13th Annual Texas Veterans Higher Education Symposium. Their session, "Power of Working Together", explored the power of working together by providing military and veteran affiliated students with a holistic support system at UIW's different schools.

Through the development of the Cardinal Success Model, the departments of Military and Veterans Affairs and the School of Professional Studies work together to provide holistic support through five categories; Academic, Emotional, Social, Financial and Career. A panel discussion was included to discuss the value of working together to provide the support developed in our model to our military and veteran students by our faculty and staff in our respective departments.

"UIW’s Adriana Leal and Jessica Parra, impressively presented "The Power of Working Together” at the 13th Annual Texas Veterans Education Symposium. UIW’s Military and Veteran Cardinal Success Model was shared and embraced by over 50 Texas universities attending the event. UIW continues to be the premiere provider of educational opportunities to active duty military members, veterans and their families!"

Jonathan Lovejoy, Senior Director for Military and Veterans Affairs (MVA), University of the Incarnate Word
