Free Textbooks in the School of Professional Studies

The University of the Incarnate Word School of Professional Studies provides textbooks to all undergraduate students at no charge.

School of Professional Studies Textbook Policy

Free textbooks are provided for undergraduate students taking courses through the School of Professional Studies (SPS). Textbooks are e-books (electronic textbooks), which are accessible and portable no matter where you are located. Undergraduate e-books will be available at the start of the semester in Canvas, the learning management system for SPS.

Courses taken in degree programs offered through other UIW schools do not qualify for this benefit.

Neither master's* nor doctoral degree programs in SPS qualify for free textbooks.

*Active-duty military students using tuition assistance will receive free textbooks for master's level courses in the School of Professional Studies. Learn more about textbooks for active-duty military students.

Free Textbooks for Active-Duty Military

Please note that any books for active-duty military students requiring shipment to APO/FPO addresses should be ordered no later than three full weeks before the start of the term to provide sufficient time for the books to arrive. Failure to do so will delay the delivery of your textbooks and could affect your progress in the course. Register and order your books early!

Undergraduate course book vouchers are located under the “Course Outline and Book” section of your Canvas course. Graduate book voucher instructions will be emailed approximately 4-6 weeks before the start of the term, in which instructions are given to access any graduate eBooks or vouchers for hardbound texts. The deadline to order books to APO/DPO/FPO addresses for active duty military students is also included in the email.
