UIW Recognized for Low Student Debt

October 17, 2017

San Antonio – The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) has received recognition from The Student Loan Report for the low level of loan debt UIW students have post-graduation.

The Student Loan Report released a new study called Student Loan Debt Per Graduate by School by State ranking UIW as #21 in Texas for its low level of student debt. The rankings are based on the Peterson’s Financial Aid dataset, which includes the recent student debt data from the Class of 2016 undergraduates who began at UIW as first-time freshmen. UIW was the only San Antonio university to make the top 25.

According to the Student Loan Report, there is now over $1.4 trillion in outstanding student loan debt shared over 44 million borrowers. Student debt leads to many financial roadblocks including the inability to buy a house, start a family, or even buy a car after college. The report was created by detailing the average student debt per graduate from over 1,100 colleges and universities in the United States.
