The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is proud to partner with Methodist Healthcare to offer employees and their dependents a tuition discount.

The Methodist Healthcare Tuition Discount Program includes a tuition discount for Methodist Healthcare employees or their dependents for in-person or online courses at the UIW School of Professional Studies (SPS).

The Methodist Healthcare Tuition Discount Program aims to provide quality education to meet career goals and provide professional growth.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Methodist Healthcare employees and their dependents who are based in the U.S.
  • Employees who are in a regular, full-time work status before the first day of classes for the semester or term or their dependents.
  • Employees and dependents must apply and meet UIW admissions requirements including submitting all previous transcripts.
  • Employees must submit the required Methodist Healthcare Tuition Discount Program documentation to the UIW School of Professional Studies no later than 14 days prior to the start of the semester or term.
  • Employees or their dependents may have part-time or full-time student status.

Admissions Requirements

Individuals must apply to the University of the Incarnate Word through the normal application process and will be evaluated according to the same admission standards as all other applicants to the School of Professional Studies. To begin receiving the tuition discount, applicants should notify the Human Resources Department at Methodist Healthcare as soon as possible after they have been admitted to the University.

The Methodist Healthcare Tuition Discount Program is a tuition discount for in-person or online courses at the UIW School of Professional Studies available to Methodist Healthcare employees and their dependents.

  • The discount only applies to published UIW tuition rates for the course in which Methodist Healthcare employees, or their dependents, enroll.
  • The discount does not apply to UIW fees, such as parking fees and citations, books, deferred payment fees or any other fees.
  • The tuition discount may not be stacked or cumulated with UIW-funded discounts or scholarships in any term.
  • The tuition discount cannot be applied retroactively.
  • The tuition discount is applied after the final date for the respective term to drop courses has occurred.
  • The Methodist Healthcare Tuition Discount Program applies to bachelor's and master’s level graduate courses.
  • Courses are available through UIW School of Professional Studies (SPS).
  • Enrollment deadlines are the same as for the eligible programs.
  • The Methodist Healthcare Tuition Discount Program does not apply to:
    • Certificate programs
    • Doctoral degrees, including Pharmacy, Optometry, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Medicine, Occupational Therapy, DBA and Ph.D. degrees
  • Study Abroad programs are not eligible for the tuition discount.
  • The Associate or their dependent must complete the Methodist Healthcare Tuition Discount Program Form and return to the UIW School of Professional Studies as annotated on the form.
  • Verification of employment will be handled by the UIW School of Professional Studies contacting Methodist Healthcare and using information provided on the Methodist Healthcare Tuition Discount Program Form.
  • Verification of a dependent will be by a method prescribed by the UIW School of Professional Studies, such as payroll records, dependent insurance medical coverage, tax returns or birth certificates.
  • Tuition discounts remain in pending status until UIW verifies employment with Methodist Healthcare and/or dependent status at the start of each term.
  • A dependent of a Methodist Healthcare employee must have been claimed as a legal exemption of the Methodist Healthcare employee on their most recent federal income tax return.
  • A dependent is defined as:
    • The biological or legally adopted child of the Methodist Healthcare employee.
    • A stepchild of the Methodist Healthcare employee may utilize the Tuition Discount provided his/her primary residence is the same as that of the Methodist Healthcare employee.
    • A child for whom the Methodist Healthcare employee has legal guardianship and custody for a minimum of three years and has resided with the Methodist Healthcare employee for that same time period may utilize the tuition discount provided appropriate court documents are presented for total or partial support in anticipation of adoption.
  • UIW student accounts must be current to be eligible for the program.

If you are a current student, complete the Methodist HealthcareTuition Discount Program Form and submit it as instructed on the form to UIW School of Professional Studies.

  • Non-UIW scholarships may be applied to a student’s account.
  • Employees are eligible to apply for and receive state or federal need-based financial aid.
