Dr. Kruti Lehenbauer joined the University of the Incarnate Word in Fall 2017 and serves as a Full Professor of Business Economics at the School of Professional Studies. Dr. Lehenbauer received her first Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Statistics from Gujarat University, India. She later obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Finance (Cum Laude) from the University of Texas in Dallas in 2002. With a full graduate school scholarship, she went on to complete her Master of Science in Applied Economics (MSAE) in 2004 followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Economy and Public Policy from the School of Economic, Political, and Policy Sciences (EPPS) at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) in 2006. Her dissertation examined how maternal choices and behaviors impact the birth outcomes for babies in terms of birth weight and gestational age from a socio-economic perspective.

Dr. Lehenbauer has 15+ years of experience with teaching a variety of undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and executive courses in both online and on-ground formats. Prior to joining UIW, she served as an Associate Professor of Business Economics at Northwood University in Michigan. She started her career at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2006 and served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Economics and later as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education at the School of EPPS.

Her teaching and research interests include: Statistical Analysis, Management Science, Quantitative Methods, Economic Research Techniques, Global Economy, Strategic Planning, Managerial Economics, Research Design, Academic Writing and Presentation, Teaching Effectiveness, Critical Thinking, Simulation and Capstone courses, and Doctoral Seminars (dissertation/work-based projects/publication/presentation sections) to name a few.

Dr. Lehenbauer is also an Econometric Analyst and Consultant providing services to various financial institutions around the country with special focus on Regulation Z, TILA, HMDA, and Fair Lending practices.
