UIW's School of Professional Studies's blended learning classes meet once per week with an instructor for approximately two hours of class.
This scheduling permits student to attend two classes per term, but they do not need to attend twice per week. Hybrid classes are offered Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings at the Northwest and Northeast Centers. Classes meet for 2 hours and 10 minutes once a week. The remainder of the week’s class time is spent online.
The remaining week’s work for the course is completed online and will include an asynchronous discussion component as well as one or all the items below:
• Case studies
• Lecturettes (small lectures to initiate or supplement discussion)
• Synchronous Chat – Possible with class in agreement
• Links to outside materials
• Grading of class will be done in the online class
Sometimes referred to as "hybrid" classes, students will be expected to attend class and participate in the online portion. A significant portion of the grade will depend upon discussion and other correspondence. This format will allow students to experience a blend of learning formats, manage their time, and utilize online learning tools as well as face-to-face interaction with professors and other students.
For more information students should contact an advisor and refer to the schedule of classes for each term.
